Few cars capture the spirit of
British motoring quite like the iconic Jaguar E-Type. Widely regarded as one of
the most beautiful and charismatic sports cars ever built, the E-Type remains a
cornerstone of classic car collecting. Offered here is a 1972 example of the
desirable Series 3 2+2, powered by Jaguar’s legendary V12 engine and paired with
a manual gearbox.
First registered in March
1972, this E-Type presents in an elegant dark blue finish complemented by a grey
leather interior—an understated yet timeless colour combination that suits the
car’s sweeping lines perfectly. The car has had six former keepers and has been
in the current ownership since March 2008, reflecting a lengthy period of
enthusiast stewardship.
Under the bonnet lies the
5,343cc V12 engine, delivering the smooth power and distinctive character that
defined the later E-Type models. The odometer currently displays 46,814 miles;
however, this mileage cannot be verified.
Over the years the car has
benefited from a number of maintenance and cosmetic improvements. The chrome was
professionally re-plated in July 2012, helping maintain the car’s brightwork and
overall presentation. Inside, a new headlining was fitted in December 2010,
while new door seals were installed in March 2008. Mechanically, the car
received a new exhaust system in December 2007.
The history file
includes a handwritten invoice dated March 2003 which appears to document a
thorough recommissioning of the vehicle. This is accompanied by a selection of
additional invoices detailing some of the work carried out over time, helping to
illustrate the ongoing care the car has received.
Since
arriving on site, the car has been running and driving. The battery had
unfortunately failed, but a new unit has now been fitted and the vehicle starts
as expected
With its unmistakable styling,
smooth V12 powerplant and appealing colour combination, this 1972 Jaguar E-Type
2+2 represents an opportunity to acquire a usable and characterful example of
one of Britain’s most celebrated sports cars. A true classic that continues to
